Once your meeting begins, Continuum gives you full control over what gets captured and how. From starting your transcribing to pausing for private conversations, here’s everything you need to know about managing your meeting in real-time.

Starting Your Capture

To begin capturing your meeting, you have two options: Via notification: Click the reminder notification that appears one minute before your meeting starts. This will open the meeting view in Continuum with the Capture button ready. Via capture controls: Open Continuum at any time, navigate to your meeting, and click the Capture button. Continuum instantly begins transcribing audio from both your microphone and system audio.

Capture Controls

Once you start capturing, the controls transform to show your active transcription status. Capture Controls2

How do I know it’s capturing?

You’ll see animated audio waveform bars on the left side of the controls, moving in real-time to show that Continuum is actively capturing and transcribing your conversation. See the short video below for an example: [add video here]

Live Transcript

The middle button opens your live transcript, showing what Continuum has captured so far in real-time. This is helpful for:
  • Verifying that audio is being captured correctly
  • Checking if specific points were transcribed
  • Following along with the conversation text

Stop and resume

Need to have a private sidebar conversation or go off the record? Simply click Stop to temporarily stop recording. The audio capture stops immediately, and the controls change to show a play button. Click it to resume capturing whenever you’re ready to continue. Everything between pause and resume won’t be included in your recording or transcript. When to pause:
  • Discussing sensitive personal matters
  • Having internal team conversations during client calls
  • Taking a break or handling an interruption
  • Any moment you want to keep off the record

Ending Your Meeting

When your meeting concludes and you’re ready to generate your AI summary, click Stop one final time, then click Generate. What happens next: Continuum processes your complete recording and creates an AI-powered summary with key takeaways, action items, and important discussion points. Processing typically takes 1-2 minutes, depending on the length of your meeting. You can close the meeting view after clicking Generate—Continuum continues processing in the background, and you’ll receive a notification when your summary is ready. You can freely navigate through Continuum while your meeting is being captured. Browse past meetings, check your tasks, or use Ask Continuum—the capture continues uninterrupted in the background. Visual confirmation: Even as you move between pages, you’ll always see a capture indicator at the bottom of your screen showing that your meeting is actively recording. This persistent reminder ensures you never lose track of an active capture. Recording Meeting Img

The Desktop Capture Notch

When you minimize Continuum or switch to other applications during your meeting, a compact capture notch remains visible on your desktop. Notch Img This floating control serves two important purposes: 1. Visual confirmation The notch shows that Continuum is actively capturing, even when the app isn’t in focus. You’ll see the animated waveform bars moving in real-time, giving you peace of mind that your meeting is being recorded. 2. Quick access to controls Click the notch to return to the meeting page at Continuum and access your capture controls—stop the recording and view the live transcript. This makes it easy to manage your capture without switching applications.
Important: Remember to stop.
The notch also serves as a crucial reminder to stop your capture when the meeting ends. If you forget to click Stop, Continuum continues recording everything, including post-meeting conversations, music, or any audio from your computer.
Always click Stop as soon as your meeting concludes, then click Generate to create your summary.

Adding Notes During the Meeting

Your notes field remains available throughout the meeting, allowing you to capture important moments in real-time. Why add notes during your meeting:
  • Flag key topics or decisions as they happen
  • Mark important timestamps you’ll want to reference later
  • Add context that will help the AI understand what matters most
  • Jot down follow-up items while they’re fresh
These notes are combined with your audio recording to generate a more accurate and relevant AI summary. The more you capture during the meeting, the better Continuum can identify priorities and organize your takeaways.
Tip: You don’t need to write everything down—Continuum is already capturing the full conversation. Use notes for highlights, action items, or anything you want to make sure appears prominently in your summary.

Using AI Ask Bar During Your Meeting

The AI assistant remains available while your meeting is in progress. If you need to quickly reference something from a past conversation or look up client information without interrupting the flow of your meeting, simply type your question in the Ask bar. Common use cases during meetings:
  • “What rate did we discuss for their mortgage last time?”
  • “When did this client say they wanted to retire?”
  • “What was their previous portfolio allocation?”
  • “Remind me what we agreed to follow up on”
The AI will respond helping you stay sharp and informed without missing a beat.

Troubleshooting During Transcribing

Audio not capturing? Check that Continuum has permission to access your microphone and system audio in your system settings. You may need to restart the capture after granting permissions. Recording indicator disappeared? If you don’t see the red recording indicator, your capture may have stopped unexpectedly. Click Capture again to resume recording. Performance issues? If Continuum feels slow or unresponsive during a meeting, try closing other resource-intensive applications. Recording quality won’t be affected, but the interface may be more responsive.
